Multi-Mix PICO(TM) Products for WLAN 802.11a and 802.11b Applications Introduced by Merrimac

WEST CALDWELL, N.J., April 11, 2002: Merrimac Industries, Inc. (AMEX: MRM) today announced that it has expanded its Multi-Mix PICO Z-Series by introducing four new directional couplers and two quadrature hybrids for 802.11a (5.5GHz) and 802.11b (2.4GHz) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications. The 2.4GHz and 5.5GHz WLAN products bring the total number of Multi-Mix PICO^TM products to sixteen since Multi-Mix PICO^TM was introduced in July 2001.

The 802.11a and 802.11b WLAN global systems market is expected to more than double by 2005, trending towards increases in the 5GHz frequency applications. WLAN 802.11a and 802.11b applications include such markets as handheld PCs and PDAs (personal digital assistant), wearable PCs, informational tablets, wireless TVs and point-of-sale retail terminals.
