Merrimac Expands Multi-Mix® Production Facilities in the United States and Costa Rica

WEST CALDWELL, NJ (February 6, 2001) - Merrimac Industries, Inc. (AMEX: MRM), a leader in the design and manufacture of RF Microwave components, assemblies and Micro-Multifunction (MMFM®) Modules, announced today that it would expand both its United States and Central America Multi-Mix® production facilities to meet the growing demand for wireless telecommunications products. It is anticipated that the new Multi-Mix® facility in Costa Rica will be fully operational by July 2001 while the West Caldwell expansion should be completed by the end of 2001.

According to the announcement by Mason N. Carter, Chairman and CEO, the expansion significantly increases the Company's ability to ramp-up to meet the growing demand for wireless telecommunications products. Merrimac will add 20,000 square feet to its existing West Caldwell facility in order to accommodate the expansion of its Multi-Mix® technology and will lease a new production facility in Costa Rica. The new 35,000 square feet production facility, dedicated solely to Multi-Mix® manufacturing, will more than double Merrimac's existing operations in Costa Rica and will be used for the manufacture of products for the wireless market. In addition to the Multi-Mix® facility expansion, Merrimac will also renovate its current RF Microwave Group Products West Caldwell operation.
